‘What You Came For’ by Mosca

Though widely praised, Mosca has more or less operated in the shadows of the UK underground clubstep scene, keeping his spacious yet deep techno-house infusions sealed in sterile pockets away from the bright lights and hungry eyes of the mainstream, probably in boxes labelled “Do not open until midnight” like some kind of vinyl crate full of Mogwai. That all may change with his new single due out on Rinse in October, which enlists the vocal talents of spotlight-magnet Katy B and revisits the ear-tickling garage bounce of ‘Bax’, which under Katy’s sultry silk transforms into an instantly memorable and broadly appealing clubland anthem about, what else, going hard on the dancefloor.
