The Cosmology of Kyoto: The Video Game Roger Ebert Loved

“There is the sense, illusory but seductive, that one could wander this world indefinitely.”

I hadn’t even heard of this 1994 edu-horror game before. I hastily tracked it down late last night, clicked away cautiously in the dark, and was promptly blown away. The atmosphere, art style, voice work and score were all richly evocative of the kinds of horrors you’d expect to see in a Goya tableau or Hieronymus Bosch nightmarescape. Read Ebert’s review of it in Wired and, if you value completely singular artistic experiences at all, try it yourself.
